I have two of these feeders (Original models) and they work great for squirrels. It only took two days before they gave up completely. You must make sure the feeder is far enough from a tree or post so they can’t just reach a paw in. They also don’t work well to keep out grackles and blackbirds. You have to make the bar so loose that it hangs down over the feeder, or won’t let more than one bird of any type eat. The grackles and blackbirds also quickly learned to hop up and down to get the food. Really.They even chase each other off, because they have learned that more than one bird on it closes it.
